Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean Limited Edition1965 Modern Re-interpretation: SLA065

Seiko has a long-standing history of producing reliable and rugged watches, and that legacy began with the introduction of the 62MAS in 1965 – the company's and Japan's first-ever diver's watch. With its automatic mechanical calibre and 150m water resistance, the 62MAS quickly won the hearts of professional divers and adventurers for its dependability and readability in harsh conditions.

A heritage design with the most advanced technologies

Seiko is proud to introduce a modern reinterpretation of this beloved watch. This new timepiece, part of Prospex's mission to contribute to ocean conservation, features a dial design inspired by the ancient navigational tool known as the astrolabe. Seafarers used the astrolabe to determine latitude and time based on the position of stars and the sun, and the dial pattern on this watch pays homage to this rich marine history.

Not only does this watch boast a beautifully nostalgic design, but it's also fully up-to-date regarding its technical specifications. Powered by the Caliber 8L35, specially designed for diver's watches and hand-assembled by Seiko's skilled craftsmen and women, the watch's movement promises exceptional performance in demanding environments, both on land and underwater. The bevel and surfaces of the watch are also polished to a distortion-free mirror finish, and all hour markers and hands are coated in Lumibrite for high visibility. The watch is completed with a dual-curved sapphire crystal, an anti-reflective coating, and a silicone strap for added strength and comfort.

This watch is part of the Seiko Save the Ocean series, will be a limited edition release of 1,300 and will be available from February 2023 at Christies Jewellery and Watches Papatoetoe and online
